Let's start with a drum loop.
To give a greater "punch" to every quarter we used StormGate1 with the following
gating sequence:

You can listen to the original loop and the gated
loop after 3 measures by clicking here.
Let's add a pad to this loop and let's add a gating sequence to this pad.
There is a simple way to obtain new and interesting rhythms on pads or noise.
Generate a gating sequence by using the "Rnd: Spike".
Remember to set up the proper quantization by using the "SUBDIVIDE"
menu.

Smooth the envelope using the "Smooth full" function

Normalize the envelope levels (if the level is too low)

Last, shuffle the envelope!

Every time you shuffle the envelope you will get a new gating sequences. The
smoothing operation was done to craete some "ghost" notes.
You can listen to the original loop and pad and the gated loop and pad after
3 measures by clicking here.
To conclude this demonstation, let's add a few bass notes and let's gate them
with the following pattern:

You can listen to the example (StormGate1 is used after 3 measures) by clicking
